Sharing a Common Humanity: Sixth Buddhist-Christian Colloquium

The 6th Buddhist-Christian Colloquium met recently in Taiwan. The circumstances of common everyday life was examined; on the basis of their respective religious convictions the participants decided they need to bring new hope to a shattered world by speaking of the love of Jesus and the compassion of the Buddha. This is done on the basis of a shared humanity.

Pope Renews Call for Care of Planet



The United Nations is conducting a Climate Change Conference in Bonn, Germany, under the presidency of Fiji. Pope Francis has renewed his call to action in a message he sent Frank Bainimarama, Prime Minister of the Fiji Islands, President of the 23rd Session of the Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-23), taking place in Bonn from November 6-17, 2017. The message was read during the November 16 session.

Indonesia: Bishops favour interfaith dialogue against radicalism



The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Indonesia is holding its Plenary Assembly in Jakarta from 6 to 16 November focusing on the theme “To become a relevant and significant Church: the Church’s call to purify the world”.Some 37 Bishops of Indonesia on Tuesday and Wednesday discussed on how to promote deeper relations with other religious groups and their leaders.

Vatican: Catholic, Muslim Scholars Cite Hope

Participants in the November 8, 2017, 4th Catholic-Muslim Forum “noted with satisfaction significant convergences between their respective traditions,” according to the statement released November 10, 2017, following the conference. “Such convergences constitute a motive of hope not only for Christians and Muslims but for all, favouring a meaningful collaboration for the promotion of integral human development.”

Jewish Education Group and Vatican’s educational organization Scholas Occurrentes to teach importance of mutual respect and dialogue

Jewish Educational Group World ORT and the Pope’s Scholas Occurrentes organisation have joined forces to inculcate the importance of dialogue and mutual respect in teenagers from around the world.

The two organisations have signed an agreement at the Vatican to stage an international conference in Buenos Aires bringing together hundreds of teenagers from different religious, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
